Christmas tree usually is an evergreen conifer, such as a spruce, pine or fir, or an artificial tree of similar appearance. The tree was traditionally decorated with roses from colored paper and later on also decorated with candles or Christmas lights after the era of electrification. Today, there is a wide variety of traditional and modern ornaments, such as garlands, baubles, tinsel, and candy canes; with an angel or star usually placed on top of the tree.
